Christmas Photography

With Christmas coming up this week, I thought I should share some of my favourite tips for Christmas photography, as well as my favourite Christmas photographs I have taken this year.

Firstly, some advice;

  • Don’t just photograph people – try taking close-ups of decorations, for example.
  • Christmas lights make great backgrounds, especially with a very small aperture (f1.8 or so).
  • This is a great time of year to photograph emotions, especially if you have small children – try zooming in on their faces during present time, instead of using a wide-angle.
  • Look for catch-lights in people’s eyes, perhaps even a reflection of Christmas lights.

Enjoy the photos!
