Under the shell: a reptilian embryo

Several weeks ago, I found a little stash of eggs, which I suspected were gecko eggs. I finally agreed that they probably weren’t going to hatch, as they were in far from optimum conditions, and so I opened two of them. One embryo had dried and grown mold, but the other seemed to still be inside its amniotic sac. I pried it out of the shell using a toothpick, and then happily set upon it with my camera.
